Private Chauffeur Tours of the UK

Our English Literary Tour takes you to the City of Oxford where some of the world’s most famous authors gained their inspiration.

You can either lunch at the pub that housed the weekly meetings of the Inklings which was the literary society set up by CS Lewis and had amongst its membership JRR Tolkien and Lewis Carroll, or at the quaint country inn in the Cotswold village where Nancy Mitford grew up and is buried.

Then you can visit the Grade 1 listed XIVth century cottage in which John Milton completed Paradise Lost and where the idea of Paradise Regained was put to him. A short drive then takes you to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, which was the home of the internationally acclaimed children's and short story writer Roald Dahl for 36 years until his death in 1990.

If Shakespeare is your chosen author then from Oxford you can journey through the Cotswolds to Stratford upon Avon. Please read more about this tour here.

To visit all the locations associated with Jane Austen then please see our Jane Austen tour here.

English authors hail from all over the country but some of the southern locations can be visited in one day from London. Those associated with sites farther afield would require an overnight stay for example the Bronte sisters, Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Please see our tour of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales which explores locations linked to these authors here.
