After collection from your London hotel we drive you to the city of Oxford which was founded by French scholars in 1167. The chapels, gardens and lecture theatres of the thirty-nine colleges date back to the thirteenth century with many masterpieces by Christopher Wren. Christ Church College, probably the most spectacular, was founded in 1525 by Cardinal Wolsey and has produced sixteen Prime Ministers in the last two hundred years but almost more importantly was its inspiration for the dining hall in the Harry Potter films! The city boasts the first purpose built museum in England, the world famous Ashmolean, which was opened to the public in 1683 and has recently undergone a $100,000,000 renovation.
Having spent the morning in Oxford absorbing as much culture and heritage as is humanly possible then we would take you the short journey to the village of Woodstock. The Bear Inn is just as it was when used as a favourite travel stop by Henry Vlll and would make the perfect venue for lunch as would The Feathers.
Then we head for the main attraction, Blenheim Palace. This is the most glorious example of English baroque architecture which was built for the Duke of Marlborough in the early eighteenth century for a staggering £240,000 and famous for its two thousand acres of Capability Brown landscaping reputed to be his finest work. It later became the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. This magnificent palace offers a choice of guided tours throughout the property and the grounds HAVE to be seen. There is also a wide choice of restaurants within the palace complex where afternoon tea or a glass of champagne can be enjoyed before embarking on your return journey to London.
As your journey is as important as your destination then sit back and relax in one of our luxurious vehicles. Our prices are per vehicle NOT per person and include your chauffeur guide, collection and return to your central London hotel but not entrance fees where applicable, parking or meals.
